Meat on a Mission

M3 is dedicated to strengthening the local food system in the Mid- Atlantic. In order to accomplish this, we work with local farmers, processors, retailers, restaurants, and consumers that that share the same vision of a more robust and sustainable food system. Our marketing goal is to sell our farmers’ goods at prices that benefit them and allow their family farms to thrive. We believe in the interdependence of people with one another and with our environment, and we are committed to caring for the land and protecting the environment for today’s communities and future generations.

How We Work

Garrett County, Maryland — Maryland’s westernmost county — is the location of our first farmer and processor hub.

  • We partner with USDA-certified processors and livestock growers within a 50-mile radius.

  • Our ‘hub and spoke’ model ensures local communities are engaged and directly benefit from our efforts. Garrett County, Maryland — Maryland’s westernmost county — is the location of our first farmer and processor hub.

  • Our products are transported to retailers, restaurants, and consumers in nearby mid-Atlantic rural, suburban, and urban communities, minimizing transport distances.

  • We commit to marketing our local farmer’s product at prices that allow us to pay them enough to be profitable. To succeed, their farming businesses must be sustainable economically in today’s competitive market.

  • We assist farmers move beyond environmental sustainability by helping them adopt regenerative practices that restore soil, increase biodiversity, retain water, and absorb carbon.

  • We resist degenerative farming practices that work in the opposite direction, destroying soil, decreasing biodiversity, depleting water resources and releasing carbon into the atmosphere.
